Now in its 15th year, Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 is an internationally respected guide to the United Kingdom’s fastest growing technology companies – and a ranking within the Fast 50 is regarded as a significant achievement – especially given the current economic climate.

The Fast 50 is based on percentage growth in revenue over five years, with listed companies being selected from a wide range of sectors including technology, digital media technology and biotechnology. GPEG secured its third place listing by demonstrating growth of a staggering 17716% over the last five years.

Dave Webbing, co-founder and director of both GPEG International and Taptile commented,

“Needless to say, we are delighted with the Deloitte Fast 50 ranking – particularly as we came so near to the topspot. The announcement follows the ranking of Taptile’s parent company GPEG’s listing in the similarly prestigious Sunday Times Tech Track 100 and as a still relatively small company, it is the global recognition of our belief in our technology and our unwavering commitment to new products such as Taptile, that is perhaps the most pleasing of all.”

Other 2011 listings included Nujira, an eco-tech company, Voice 2 Voice, a telecommunications business and NanoSight, a company supplying the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical industries. Tellingly, whilst GPEG’s fellow Fast 50 listings had also delivered impressive growth, only GPEG and the two companies to occupy first and second places – LeadPoint UK and Fixnextix, respectively – showed growth of over 10,000%.

Deloitte estimate that UK Technology Fast 50 companies have generated in excess of £13billion of wealth for their owners since ranking and that, despite tough times, the UK continues to contribute disproportionately strongly to global technology.

David Halstead, Partner leading the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 said,

“The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 gives great profile to technology companies and is internationally recognised as being one of the most important business awards in the sector. The technology Fast 50 awards are an opportunity for businesses to gain recognition for their successes and achievements over the last five years. The year’s ranking highlights the importance of finding a niche product or service to beat the recession.”
