GPEG Scoops 9th Ranking on Sunday Times Tech Track Top 100

GPEG International, the electronic wizards behind Taptile bathroom lighting, has been listed as 9th on the prestigious Sunday Times Tech Track 100. The annual supplement, which identifies the UK’s top one hundred, fastest growing technology companies, placed GPEG in its top ten of technology movers and shakers – above household names such as the online film rental business Lovefilm.com, the travel price comparison website, Cheapflights and the popular fundraising website, Just Giving.

120% Year on Year Growth
GPEG secured its listing thanks to the company’s impressive growth, which has seen the business’s sales leap from just £0.6m in 2007 to £6.3m in 2010 – a 120% year on year growth. GPEG attributes its rapid growth to an increasing demand for interactive products that take the consumer experience – whether through advertising, leisure or simply within their own homes - to another level of sophistication.

Nick How, co-founder and CEO commented, "Making the Tech Track's Top 100 would have been enough of an achievement in itself, but to be listed within the Top 10 is fantastic. We are only a small team and this is a huge accolade for all of us. Gaining this recognition within just 5 years is testament to everyone’s commitment and our continued research and investment into new products such as our Taptile lighting system."

More about Taptile – Innovation for the Kitchen & Bathroom Sector
Until recently, GPEG has focused much of its product development on the electronic displays that are used on games consoles in betting shops, in luxury hotels and on Bluetooth headsets to name but a few applications.

Now Taptile, one of GPEG’s latest innovations is set to change that. A brilliantly clever, touch-sensitive bathroom lighting system, Taptile is an ultra-slim panel (8mm thick) that is fitted behind bathroom tiles and that allows the user to control up to three different lighting circuits by touch alone – so that’s the bathroom’s main lighting, accent lighting and perhaps mood lighting all activated from one place, with one touch.

Two different colour decals come with every Taptile sensor to identify the 6 touch-sensitive spots. Alternatively the ‘etch kit’ accessory or items such as seashells, pebbles or mosaics can be used to mark the touch-sensitive spots.

In addition, Taptile can also be used to control appliances - e.g. extractor fans and sound systems. 100% waterproof, Taptile can also be safely installed next to wash basins, bath tubs and even showering areas. Virtually wireless, the panel is easy to fit and will be a breath of fresh air for retailers, designers and consumers who love the concept of touch-sensitive lighting, but whom have been discouraged by the often highly complex and specialist installation that such products require.

Similarly attractive is the Taptile price tag. With a complete kit retailing for around £150.00 inclusive VAT, this is not an elitist, exclusive product- indeed, coupled with its ease of use, suitability as a new or retrofit product and impressive flexibility, Taptile is extremely accessible, not to mention a great addition to inclusive schemes.
